Dear CanadaVisa forum,

I will be needing to renew my study permit soon and I am really worried about how it will go. Any help is very much appreciated. I am really having so much trouble finding good advice... I am concerned about my study permit because:

a) I had many past refusals (2 TRV and 2 study permits) because I included my then-boyfriend in the applications and didn't have enough money.
b) I lived with the boyfriend once I arrived and married him 1.5 years after arriving to Canada. He sponsored me for PR and I got OWP last month.

However, I have been a star student I believe. I did ESL for one year and upgraded to a degree. And now I am around 3.8/4 GPA. My mom was also given a 2 year TRV to visit our wedding.

Is my case strong enough? Do I need a lawyer for this? Should I include things like "bona fide student" or "dual intent" in the explanation letter if I don't use a lawyer?
I really do want to study, have struggled for so long and my life would be ruined if this was refused. I am almost sick every day because of this. Any advice?

Thank you...

1. You can not have both study permit and OWP together. Only one at a time.
2. If you still a registered and full time student, you need LOA from school for study permit extension. Getting extension is not a rocket science.
