I am an international student, doing a 2-year M.Sc program that started in September 2010. My study permit is expiring on July 31, 2012. I applied for an extension till may 2013, providing documents from my University supporting my claim. I only received an extension till Nov 30, 2012. I have asked around, and no other international student has ever faced something like this. I am wondering whether this was a mistake on their part or there could be a reason behind it. I provided all the right documents and have enough funds. The only loophole on my part could be that i have not filed for my taxes yet, mainly because i have not been eligible for a SIN card until now. Could these two be related? Please help.

A lot of my classmates have taken even longer, and when they asked for a years extension they got it, and sometimes they got more than what they asked for.
