I applied for a Study permit through VFS, to the Abu Dhabi Office on the 3rd of April.
Sent the medical on the 7th of May after the email request

Classes start early september, why is it taking so long, some ppl on this forum who applied in July have received theirs already, but maybe thats because they applied at a different office?

Worried i wont get it in time. What should I do?

The VFS track application says: Your application is being processed at the visa office ABU DHABI

My younger brother applied through VFS Qatar for his study permit on April 26th and is also still waiting, currently in progress at Abu Dhabi. Contacted the embassy last week through the contact form and this is the response he got:

"Thank you for your E-mail.

Your application is in queue for review by an officer.

Please note that the volume of applications received and the complexity of individual applications can cause processing times to be longer in some cases. This is often due to circumstances beyond our control. We appreciate your patience and we will contact you once processing has been finalized.

Sincerely,

Immigration section | RA
Canadian Embassy | United Arab Emirates"

Given that processing times for him has exceeded by 5/6 weeks the response seems generic and concerning to say the least....

A friend applied from VFS Qatar on April 12th and she recieved her visa on June 15th.

FYI for anyone who applied from Qatar and is in processing at Abu Dhabi don't have to worry about the current blockade affecting anything. The friend who applied apparently VFS sent her passport from Qatar to get visa from the Canadian embassy in Poland once approval was recieved from the Abu Dhabi embassy. The visa will arrive from a different country since the passports can't be shipped to the UAE, but this shouldn't affect applications or timings.
