Hi there,
I am dual French - US citizen, who has been accepted in a Canadian university (in Quebec). I have started my CAQ application in March but haven't received a response yet, certainly due to the Covid situation. My boyfriend and other family members residing in the US, I would like to visit in the summer, as soon as travel restrictions allow. However, I'm not sure how to proceed regarding my application for the study permit, and I have several questions that I hope someone can answer:
Because of the huge tuition fees difference (Americans pay the international student fees, while French citizens pay as Canadians), I have decided to apply as a French citizen.
Does that mean I necessarily need to do my biometrics and interview (if needed) in France ? Or can I do so in the US?
If my American citizenship is recognized, will it affect my tuition fees? Or do they have nothing to do with each other ? (in which case I would not need to worry about biometrics and interview, as US citizens don't need to go through the same process)
As you can see I am quite lost here. For financial and practical reasons, I really want to avoid having to go back to the Canadian Embassy in Paris for the biometrics/ interview during my stay in the US. At the same time, I do not want to take risks in regards to my study permit and my tuition.
If you are in a similar situation or have any clue of how all this works, I am more than happy to hear your recommendations!
Thank you in advance,
Eva
