Hi guys. This is the first time I ask help from forums. Please help me.
I applied for the Study Permit together with my common law partner for her Open Work Permit in Ukraine.
We were both refused just in 1 day (!!). The reasons for my Study permit were :1) Purpose of visit, 2) Your personal assets and financial situation.
The reason for my partners refusal was just 1) Pupose of visit.
I've got accepted to 1-year Project Management Post Graduate Certificate at Durham College and have paid the first semester tution.
I hold a Bachelors Degree in marketing from my home country and diploma from USA in Communications. (I left USA as soon as I received my diploma)
My uncle, who is a Canadian citizen and US Permanent resident was supporting us financially. He is a doctor, so there wasn't any problems with finances.
We've provided everything we could. I've wrote a strong Motivation letter outlining every point: wy I need this course, why Canada, why we need to go together, etc...
We both hold an open 10-years U.S. visa.
I have been to Canada many times before, visiting my relatives...Each time no more than 2 weeks. I had UK visa, couple of EU visas, etc.....
Me and my partner have been living together for 2 years. We've provided all the evidence (common travel history - USA, EU,.., joint bank account, correspondence, etc.)
Regarding my assets - I own one appartment together with my father (50/50). I've also provided this document.
We as well provided the letter from our family friend in Canada, who lives not far from the college that we will stay with him (in Ukrainian embassy we are supposed to provide proof of accomodation in Canada).
Guys, I don't know what to do....If you have any suggestions, please share..
Thanks.

Based on the refusal reasons, it sounds like CIC is concerned that your purpose for coming to Canada is to remain here long term - especially since both of you applied together. I don't know what to suggest in terms of reapplying.

I would also say that certificate programs aren't regarded very highly. It would likely have been better to have applied for a post graduate diploma (rather than certificate) that was two years in length. The fact you went for a certificate may have increased CIC's concerns about your long-term intentions in Canada. They may be questioning why you want to come all the way to Canada and pay expensive foreign student fees for a simple certificate.

Thank you. But is there even such thing as Post-Graduate Diploma?

You should check with the College to get your money back first.

The longer you wait and don't ask in writing the more they keep.

Check for 2 Year Diploma or Degree Programs (search for them in Ontario and BC).

Than get it all together and re-apply, maybe try to apply separately or one after the other.

Guys, I received my Caips. My situation is posted in the very first message. Could you please share any ideas of what should be done to reapply? Thanks

PI is 26Y. OLD MALE, CL Relationship, Marketing Specialist in (company name) - LOW INCOME. HAS BA in MARKETING and Associate Degree in Communication and Media obtained in the US. Going to take Project Management Undergraduate course in ... college. PI's uncle is going to pay for the course. PI stated he would need to take the course to find better job in future (nothing specific). based on PI's background he has qualification for the current job. Most likely PI is using this opportunity to move to CDA. Doesn't have funds to pay for education himself. Not satisfied PI is fortcoming about the purpose of the trip. refused.

I think the least you can do now is to reapply and state in your new SOP that you want to take the course so that you can find a better job in your HOME country. You should state that. And you should also provide strong ties to your home country that will satisfy the VO that you will go back to your country when you graduate from the program. HTH! :)

Take a Master's in Canada instead of a post graduate certificate.

Sometimes we feel that we did everything needed to satisfy officer.

You need to satisfy officer that u will return and u got ties in our home land. Also u got enough funds.

Did you provide proof of funds (uncle bank statements ); affidavit of support ; reason why he willing to support you ?
Paid first year fees ?
Proof of relationship which is acceptable to VO ?

Yes, I've provided everything of the above, except that I paid the first semester fee, not for the entire year. But believe me, I've provided everything and even more than they need
