Hi,
Check General Checklist, you will find that its NOT required to pay first term fee in advance. Well, I know most of the applicant prefer to pay in advance with the hope that their candidature will get strengthen which is NOT true. Suppose if your visa get rejected, you will get your refund but only after the deduction of $500 in the name administrative fees by the school.
But I know in many cases (almost always in SPP/Colleges), an applicant get LOA only after paying the first term fees. Well, in that situation you have no option but to pay and get ready for risk ! Payment of fees in advance doesn't mean you will get any benfit in visa approval !
I paid nothing in advance, even my elder sibling and one cousin paid nothing in advance when they applied for visa. (both were University applicants and now lives in Canada...they were not even requested by the embassy to pay first term fee.)
