study and work pemit

Hi, i have took one year marketing course in jan intake, but after attending few classes i have found that content of this course i have already studied in past. and i have withdrawan from the course.
And now i want to go for hotel,restaurant management/international course in september/may intake.
1) is it mandatory to go for a 2 year course to get work permit? i have heard that one year course is not sufficient to get work permit of 1 year, is it so? and also not eligible for PR? suggest me.
2)yet i am searching for the college as jan intake got full everywhere, so i am looking for may or september intake.
3) my study visa is going to expire on march end 2012, and if i go for september intake one year course, then will my visa get extend? if yes, then to who should i inform, what's the procedure for that?
4) I have heard after 1 yr study one yr workpemit will not allow, is it true? Also let me know if this rule effect my may/sept 2011 intake ?

You will get 8 months work permit on one year study.

Yes, it is right that you cannot apply for pr while studying one year course.

For PR, you have to study at least 2 year and then you will get 2 year work permit.

After one year of work experience you can apply for PR under Canadian experience class.

If the course is from a recognzied school the following applies.

If you studied for… Then…
less than eight months you are not eligible for this program
less than two years but more than eight months you may get a work permit for a period no longer than the length of time you studied (for example, if you studied for nine months, a work permit may be issued for a period of nine months)
two years or more a work permit may be issued for three years

When you say "study for 2 years" do you mean 4 semesters (Sept to May times two, for example), or is it actually 24 months of study time.
