Student visa - How much do I need to show in my bank

Starting the application process for masters in Canada. If I go for a uni that charges $20k per year and the program is for 2 years. How much money should be in my bank account if I went with my husband.

If your husband is going with you, then I think you'd want to show at least $40K.

Can my brother who lives in the uk show the funds as a sponsor?

Since both you and your husband want to go together, it would be far better to show that you can fund these expenses yourselves. However you can chose to have your brother support you. He should provide a written statement confirming he is supporting your studies and living expenses (as well as your husband's travel to Canada) and provide bank account statements to prove he has the funds.
