STUDENT VISA EXPIRED BEFORE 4 MONTHS

One of my friend have been studying in Canada for last 2 and half years. Now he is doing his last semester and he realized his visa got expired before 4 months. What he can do to continue his study in Canada?
We got advise from lawyer that hae have leave Canada immediatly. Is there any option to continue his study and complete course. Only 3 weeks are remaining to complete the course.

If his study permit expired four months ago, it's too late to fix his status from within Canada He needs to leave Canada to fix his status.

He can certainly remain in Canada and complete his studies without holding a valid study permit (i.e. study illegally). However he won't qualify for a PGWP once he completes his studies.
