Hi everyone,
I have a problem. I came to Canada in 2008 with my parents, they are diplomat so I don't need a study permit at that time. Now there term expired and I have to apply for a study permit. I sent my application to buffalo. Three weeks later, i received my passport back with a visa which expire in 2014 but not my study permit. What should I do now?

You need to send the application to Vegreville for study permit if you are in Canada. Buffalo sent you TRV which enables you to leave and re-enter etc. Does the visa say "S1" or something like to indicate a student visa? Try calling the calling centre to see what they say.

1. No, the OP goes to the Border and as he has the TRV for a student in his passport, he "flagpoles" and the CBAS officer will issue his study permit.
2. He doesn't apply to Vegreville, because with diplomatic status he wasn't required to have a study permit.

Thanks, is there a deadline for me to go to the border? It's currently midterm season and I can't travel anytime soon.

You better make the time, if you no longer have diplomatic status, then you are studying without permission.
