HI! I'm a student sponsoring my husband; I had student loans this year but it doesn't really show up on my NOA - and I'll be a student net year and will also likely get student loans. Should i mention this as part of my ability to support us both or will this bias them against us?

Hi Malawi!

I would like to let you know I am a student receiving OSAP and I never mentionned on my application that I received OSAP as I have a job also to support me through school.

There is no financial requirement for spousal sponsorship but they dont want to make sure that you can financially support the applicant so they dont ask for social assistance.

If OSAP is you're only income you may want to include it and explain the reason why you have no income but in this case.

Just bare in mind these are my thoughts. I hope some other members give you feedback on this!!!!

Thanks! I also have other income and letters of support from family (free rent) but i'm not sure if a loan makes me more stable or not?? This year I have scholarships that are plenty - but maybe it's better to disclose as much as possible?

Yes you can declare it but the loan is not really an income as it dont appear on the NOA that's why i didnt do it, but it never hurts to give them extra information.
