Stuck in a country I was visiting! How to apply?

Hi guys,

I came to visit my husband in a country other than my citizenship one and due to travel ban I am stuck. I applied once for my SP before but got rejected because of my Status here (dependent). I don’t want to apply from here, my home country has all my ties and everything. What should I do?

Any way I can counter that in my SOP but apply from my home country while I’m here?

You should be honest with your submission. You can't apply from other country and say I applied from different country, what if when they request your travelling records and see no record of your entry back your home country? will that not be considered as misrepresentation?

No - there isn't.

Wait until you have returned to your home country and then reapply.

okay I will do that only. I read a couple of posts where the people who were working in another country applied without traveling. I don’t even work here.

Different situation.

You're only there as a visitor. This means you can't demonstrate ties to the country where you are currently as a visitor and also can't demonstrate ties to your home country since you are there. It makes your profile very weak which is why you should wait until you have returned to your home country to reapply.

I live in KSA as a dependent, will that work for me? I can justify saying I’m visiting my husband and borders are closed to India so can’t travel?

So you just traveled to KSA recently (within the last couple of months) and got stuck there? Before that you were living in India?

Yes! Since only 2018 I’ve been visiting here. I go back and forth, except my husband working here everything else is related to my home country only. My parents, my education, my property and my work experience too. I only visit him for couple of months and go back. Not authorized to work here, just stay under his status. I don’t have any long tie with this place.

You're only there as a visitor. So it's a bad idea to apply from there and this will weaken your application. Best option is to wait until you are back in India and apply from there. But ultimately your choice.

Thank you! I am going for Jan intake so will wait for the borders to open and see if I find similar cases like mine.
