i everyone,I'm new here an been reading this forum for days now but can't find answers an hoping someone can help me!I applied for PR in 2009 I got married in 2012 and also have a baby in Canada,I wasn't aware that I have to inform CIC of both,someone bought it to my attention as I haven't heard from CIC in two years..both me an my two others kids living here in Montreal are on my application.recently I call CIC an they told me my file have transfer to Montreal office and I will be contacted...anyway I call my lawyer and explain she told me to write them a letter and send it along with my certificate which I already did but now I got letter saying my application is completed.. Help I'm so stress!

Is your spouse a Canadian citizen or PR? If so then just updating CIC was ok.

If he's not a citizen or PR already, then you must officially add him as a dependent spouse into your application, and he needs to do a medical exam. You must do this before you officially land as PR.

He is a non resident!my lawyer says he can't be added once application is complete but I should inform they that way I will be able to sponsor him...I applied under convention refugee!but I'm still panicking as I'm just waiting for a.letter for my interview now!thanks for your reply

I'm not sure about refugee program in specific... but in general if you do a PR landing interview when your spouse was not an official dependent in your application with full medical done... then after you land as PR you can NEVER sponsor your spouse. You are supposed to include spouses in application, and get PR together.

Thanks I wasn't aware of that because I got married in 2012,and to this day I'm still not a landed resident..if I had known then we would of do the process but my lawyer says I'll be able to sponsor him after once I inform them just that he can't b added..I'm so frustrated

Just make sure to tell CIC that you got married. They will tell you what the steps are.

If you do any landing interview, make sure to also tell them you are married too. As long as you are informing CIC of everything, you should be ok.

If you husband does a medical exam then he can be a non-accompanying dependent right now. In this case after you get PR, then you will be able to sponsor him. As far as I know, getting his medical done and informing CIC you are married and not single, are the most important steps before you get your own PR status.

Ok thanks I send them a.letter registered as opposed by my lawyer in that case she told me to make copies of everything an bring them with me to the landing interview..if I didn't hear from them..I'm hoping all goes well I don't mind my file being delayed if they have to add him I been waiting almost 5 years for this!we have a baby an won't wanna be able to be with him an out family...fingers crossed everything went well thanks again your being helpful!
