You can apply for citizenship when you hit the 4 year mark. But you would have to report where you have been for last 6 years. Remember the new citizenship rule doesn't come into effect until june/july 2015. Right now it's 3 out of 4 years to qualify.

thanks for clarifying. Does it mean that if someone lands on or after June / July 2015, he will face the new law. In other words if someone lands before that date, shall be given citizenship as per prevailing 3 out of 4 years law. Am I right !

No - that's not how it works. It doesn't matter when you land - what matters is when you submit the citizenship application. So if you are landing summer 2015 you will most certainly fall under the new rules since you won't be submitting your citizenship application under well after the new law has come into play.

not clear, I landed in Nov 2013... Meaning I will also have to face new law in any case :(

It has got nothing to do with landing . Anyone who files an application after/on the date the new law is in force (which as per CIC's website would be around June/July 2015 ) would be processed under the new residency rule of 4/6 years.

Hope it helps !

clear, thanks a lot. And for PR, it's still 2 out of 5 years, is that right !
