Hello. I'm a PR, did my soft landing and returned from Canada after that. I'm planning to go and settle by summer 2020. It means I've been physically present in Canada for 10 days only and I'm now returning after 18 months.

I know about the requirement that "To meet these residency obligations, you must be physically present in Canada for at least 730 days (2 years) in every 5-year period." -- However, I'm a little stressed about it. Can the border officer question my extended staying outside of Canada?

Thanks.

You should be fine given you are well within meeting the residency obligation. Just answer any questions honestly and avoid volunteering anything extra. Assume you have a PR card which you need if you are flying back to Canada.

Plenty of people do a soft landing and leave it until near 3 years to return without any issue
