I have got a P.R. status and My P.R. card is valid till November 2014. My son sponsored me for getting my P.R. Card. Now he is planning to visit for
one month to our native country to sort out some pending property issues. During the same period I will also be going and staying with him our native country.
Now my question is : will my stay with my sponsorer son in our native country, counted towards The Residency Obligations of the P.R. Status?

Very much worried :-[ :-[

No - these days will not count towards your residency obligation.

These days would only count if you were outside of the country with your Canadian citizen spouse.

No, but you also do not need to worry. You only need to stay in Canada 730 days in your first 5 years as a PR and any 5 year period after that. 730 days is 24 months or 2 years. That means that in a 5 year period, you may be outside Canada for up to 1095 days = 36 months = 3 years. 1 months will not make a difference.

Counting of Days of Stay prior to P.R.

I applied for P.R. Card on 29th September, 2004. And received "Confirmation of Permanent Residence" on 31st May 2009.
Between these dates I visited Canada on Visitors VISA two times, and stayed total of 351 days. After getting "Confirmation of Permanent Residence"
I started visiting and residing in Canada from 29th September, 2009. My question is , will the 351 days which I have stayed in Canada between My Application for
P.R. and its subsequent "Confirmation" be counted towards 'Residency Obligation' of P.R. status?

somancm is anxious to know about it!!

No, days in Canada before PR can not be counted towards the residency obligation for PR status.

If you landed in Canada as a PR on September 29, 2009, you will need to fulfill the requirement of 730 days in Canada by September 29, 2014, your first 5 years. After that, you must always have 730 days in Canada in the past 5 years counting from any date.

How long have you stayed in Canada so far since you landed as a PR? Note that you still have 2 years time in order to meet the requirements.
