Hi guys, new to the forum! This is a great resource!

Something I am slightly confused on:

My common-law partner and I will be applying inland in around October 2018. I am starting to get everything prepared now that I possibly can. I am looking at the form stated in the title, which is part of the OWP required forms. I am just wondering, it states on the form: "...solemnly declare that I have cohabited in a common-law relationship for _______ (Number of Years) From _______ to _______.

I (Canadian citizen) will be moving back to Canada 3 months prior to my partner coming, to get a job, set up a home for us, that kind of thing, while she remains in Australia and works, so that we can be ready to apply not long after she comes.

What would I put in the blanks above? Does that 3 months apart disqualify us? Or is this form basically just a means of stating that we have previously achieved the status of "common-law partners" by fulfilling the requirement of living together for a year? In other words, would the dates I provide be:

a) From the beginning of when we lived together, until we parted for three months,

b) From the beginning of when we started living together, until the date when we apply, since, technically we would still be considered common-law (I think) despite living apart for three months with good reason. (We will be living together again when she arrives in Canada, when we send in the application),

or,

c) Something I haven't thought of

Just a couple of side questions:

Are the "Number of Years" full years?

And also, should we include one of these forms with the main application since sometimes they ask for them later in the process?

Thank you sincerely in advance for your help. :D

Inland spousal sponsorship requires both the Sponsor and Principal Applicant to reside in Canada......so you have to send the sponsorship application when your partner has joined you in Canada.

As per the date......it should be......From the beginning of when you started living together, until the date when you apply (but both of you must be in Canada for Inland).

The "Number of Years" are full years.......2017 to 2018 = 1 year.

Right, we will both be in Canada when we apply, I'm just coming to get some stuff ready ahead of time so we have an apartment etc. in both our names at the time we do apply, and I have work with which to support her us in the time she cannot work.

Thank you for your help :)
