Status of FBI background check?

I applied for a background check in early August, and I'm getting antsy waiting for it, as it's basically the last document I need to be able to mail everything out. I know that it can take up to 8 weeks to process, and I may not get the results until mid October, but is there any way for me to check on the status of it?

Yes, call 304-625-2000. Follow the prompts to reach an operator. Once you get someone on the line, tell them you are calling to check the status of your background check. You will be transferred to a customer service rep who can give you an idea of when it will be mailed out. I sent my request the last week in July, and was told on Tuesday it would be mailed out this week.

Thanks! They received the request August 15th, which is nice to know, but it'll probably be mid October before I get it back.
