Hi
I'm new to the forum. A person can stay in Canada on visit visa for 6 months. If a person files refugee claim on visit visa, what is their status in Canada after 6 months if he/she hasn't heard anything from IRCC?

I heard AOR can take between 6-8 months. What is the status between filing and receiving AOR
Thanks

You will be out of status and will have a removal order that will be on hold pending the outcomes of your refugee claim. There is no AOR.

Hi,
Thanks for the advice. The inquiry was not for me. I'm a citizen. It is for one of my relative. What if the person is on valid super visa for 5 years? Is he still going to be out of status?

Unless they have a very strong case for asylum then they also risk not being able to visit in the future if they apply for asylum and are denied. Do you have other family members who may want to visit or study/work in Canada? After applying for asylum it will be much more difficult for extended family to get temporary visas/permits
