Hi

I am planning to start a 8 month long course in Canada in September. I am also planning to apply for EE around 26th of May. I have around 460 points and also a sibbling in Canada so think I will get the ITA in the next draw.

So assuming I can apply quickly I should have my PR around September/October time.

Now because I will already be in Canada on a 6 month tourist visa do you think it would be wise for me to attend my course while I am on that visa? Can this cause a problem when I actually 'land' in Canada with PR.

I am assuming I will have to leave Canada and come back to start my PR. Is this correct?

Yes - it's a problem. You need a study permit to study a course that is greater than six months in length. Studying an 8 month program on a visitor visa is a violation of the terms of your visa - which means you can be removed from Canada. Either get a study permit or wait until you are a PR before you start your studies. Don't break the law.

Yeah thought so. I was thinking I'll be okay as long as I don't spend more than 6 months studying on visitor visa I might be okay.
