The sputum test did not grow TB. You will have to repeat your chest x-ray. If it looks better or the same as the first chest x-ray that may all you have to do. If there are still concerns about your chest x-ray you may be asked to do further testing.

Hello, I got a job at a school in Canada and I just had my visit medical, they asked me to do a sputum test and wait for the results in 8 weeks. To be on the safe side, I went to see another private specialist to find out if I was at risk with TB and not at all. So my questions are could the doctor offer me a faster TB test? And will my sponsor wait for me because I start work in mid-August? Is this kind of test common? Thank you

A skin test can be done but that only shows that you have antigens so doesn’t confirm whether you have TB or not which is why IRCC requires a sputum test. Within Canada a skin test is often performed because most Canadians will have never been exposed to TB. The timeline is due to requiring time for the sputum culture to grow so can’t really be done faster.

And in general there are no problems with the work? Do they have to wait? It's lawyers who will do the visa for me. Thank you very much for your help.

Hi
Parents applied for a Supervisa
Previously, dad had a minor TB around 40 years back, they did medical, and there is no sign or marks in an x-ray. They requested a sputum test.
1. What are the implications on visa?
2. How long will it take to clear?
3. I am sure there is no active TB, so how many rounds of tests will be conducted?
Anyone had such experience with previous TB history?

1. None. TB testing is often required from visiors in certain parts of the world.
2. Around 3 months. Sputum culture needs time to grow and then a repeat chest X-ray will need to be done. IRCC will then review the results.
3. Not sure what you mean once the sputum culture is done and repeat x-ray is complete that is the end of TB testing. If there are concerns about other potential lung issues then further testing could be required.
