Spouse Visa is sent off, what happens next?

Our visa was sent off, its an outland application.
I was just wondering what the next steps look like?
Do we get notified when the start to work on it?
when do I make a cic account to check the status?!

Hey,

congrats on finishing and sending it away! you can (if you want) join the February 2013 applicants thread, there is a spreadsheet as well, so you can see the progress.
For now - you just need to wait!
If you've sent the application with registered mail, you can track when it arrives at CIC.
Next step is: you MIGHT get an AOR ( acknowledgement of receipt), usually after 10 to 15 days, CIC sending you an email to let you know that they have your application, and your UCI and file number. With that, you can try and check your application on ecas (see on CIC website, check my application ). Some people never get an AOR, and hear from CIC the first time when they get sponsor approval.
Currently it takes about 21 days according to the website to get the approval, so you won't have to wait for too long.
