Hey All,

I am hoping someone has gone through this or has an idea about my question.

My wife's visa was issued with an expiry date of 24th November 2019. I know you have to be inside the Canada before this expires. Now the question is;

  • If she enters Canada on Nov 15th, 2019, Can she continue to stay in Canada with expired TRV? Because at that point her PR Card will still be in process. And we likely wont receive it until Mid or end of January as CIC states its about 6 weeks time frame.
The only reason I am asking this question is, on GCKey it says in description "You cannot enter Canada if your document is expired, neither can you stay in Canada it is expired.

The second part of this statement does not make sense to me (regarding staying with an expired TRV), however it is always wise to seek opinion as chances are there are few people who went thru the same scenario.

If people can provide their input, that would be helpful.

Thanks,

Yes - she can remain in Canada. At that point she will be a PR and entitled to live in Canada. No TRV required.
