Spouse Sponsorship Inland or Outland?

I am about ready to send off my application for Spouse sponsorship. But i was wondering which would be the fastest route? I am currently In Canada. My wife is a Canadian born and raised am I still allowed to send my application to somewhere outland? It seems that ottawa has the shortest processing time. I am a United States Citizen. Or on the application says that I send it to Ontario Mississagua.

Generally applying inland is a lot slower than applying outland. Check the processing times....


I just looked and what's posted for inland processing times is a little deceiving... it LOOKS like it should only take 16 months in total but if you notice is says "currently working on applications received on july 8 2013" so there is a backlog there of about 9 months. Sooo. 9 + 16 is 25 months (ish) for inland. And outland you can choose New York...30 months or LA...26 months. So I guess just flip a coin or something. lmao.

Keeping in mind of course that unless you have a work permit you can't work in Canada while it's processing, whereas you could go back to the US and work while it processed outland.

Regardless of what you choose, when you initially mail your application you send it to mississagua, ont. They give the address in the application guide.

If u choose inland application, in that case u need to be in Canada and u r not allow to travel out till ur application under process and u guys need to be live together because inland application approval strongly depend on living together and very low chances for rejection also .... but inland application processing time more longer than out land application but depend on VO Also because SINGAPORE VO Take 28 months to process application ...According to CIC site for first stage 8 -9 months and for second stage 8 months ..so totally 17 months ..but can apply for OWP after ur first stage approval known as AIP .... CIC processing time is not very accurate and its change time to time and depend on ur application also ... its could be longer also and could be shorter also. and according to my opinion CIC taking only 3 to 4 months max for second stage ..so u can count at least 12 to 13 months processing time for inland application Now ...NOTE PLEASE in case of rejection inland application no appeal allowed ... u have to leave canada after rejection but u still can go to federal court and according to my lawyer current waiting time for appointment in federal court is 24 months to 36 months ....
If u choose out land application then for first stage processing time just 28 days only and second stage depend on ur residence Country CIC Visa Office and in case of rejection u can appeal and even can fight in federal court ...Good luck and God bless all of us

Uh...your numbers are wayyyyy off.

An Inland application, especially for an American (or anyone from a visa exempt country), takes about 12 months total. Yes, CIC shows that stage 1 takes 8 months, followed by another 8 months for stage 2, but MANY recent applicants had both AIP and DM in ~12 months.

Outland takes ~ 1 month for stage 1 (SA) followed by ~7-8 months for stage 2, so it's really NOT that much faster after all.

Most Americans have their Outland applications processed in Canada (CPP-O). The New York and LA Visa offices are typically used for `non-typical' applications.

That's just like a lot of people telling me that if I'm separated from my husband when we apply the process will go way faster than if I choose to apply as a canadian living exclusively outside of Canada (aka with him). It doesn't say that on the website. There's no way to know if your application will follow what the website says or if it will go slower or faster for whatever reason.

The processing times for outland on the website are NOT averages. They are more worst case times for 80% of applications. Most people are done quicker.

So LA and NY times are not relevant when looking at possible outland times for US applicants. They are only used when interviews are required (so very rare).

That's great, with so many hoops to jump through already it would be a nice surprise to have a quicker processing time, but maybe I'll just not get my hopes up. Just incase.

I see. Ottawa is showing 15 months which if that's the worst case scenario then it's still a toss up as to whether the OP should apply inland or outland as the processing times would be similar.

Based on people's actual recent experiences with CPP-Ottawa, a 10 month time is more realistic.

Plus with outland app one can come and go from Canada as they please. With an inland app, you should be prepared to remain inside Canada and not leave for any reason during entire processing time.

I know it sounds a bit stupid but I hear many American Citizens that are applying for residence apply outland because it is faster but stay in Canada during the process is that possible? Or because I am currently in Canada must i apply for inland?

Lastly what are my chances of my application getting rejected? I got married in Canada and to a Canadian citizen is it likely that Canada will reject my application? I have shown sufficient evidence that our relationship is genuine with pictures, flights, letters?

Yes U can filed inland or out land application while living in Canada but in case if u got interview then u need to go back to ur home town nearest CIC VISA OFFICE FOR INTERVIEW because CIC not gonna allowed u to choose any VISA Office in Canada for Interview ...Guys don't forget my +1 ...see my detail left side and click on Good ..
