Hell All,

In the Document Checklist for Spouse Sponsorship, there is a question:

Information about Previous Examination (to be completed by the sponsor):
The person I am sponsoring was declared as my spouse or partner and was already examined as a non-accompanying dependent when I applied for a permanent resident visa, and did not receive an immigrant visa. (Note: If you have never applied for a permanent resident visa, answer no.)

Yes ( ) No ( )

I became a PR and then a Canadian citizen several years ago and I was never married and didn't have a partner at that time. I am recently married and sponsoring my spouse. Therefore, I should be selected "No" for this question, correct? The note in parentheses kind of confuses me, but the answer "No" also applied to me even though I did apply for a PR visa. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.

Answer is no.

The parentheses part can apply to other situations, such as Canadian citizens from birth sponsoring their spouses.
