I'm a Quebec native citizen and am filing for spouse sponsorship with my American wife. We recently got married in Montreal and are trying to complete our filing to make sure we have all of the correct documents. We were told to also file for a work permit for my wife, so she can work in Canada. Do we need to fill out the CSQ form? Our paperwork asks us if my wife has gotten a CSQ or when she applied for it...What forms do we need to fill out to get her a work permit in Canada? Do we process those papers with out Spouse Sponsorship file?

Your help would be much appreciated, thank you :)

She is only eligible for an OWP if you are applying with an Inland application (not advised for an American, as an Outland application is much faster).

Even with the Inland application, she would not actually receive the OWP until she reaches the first stage approval (AIP), which would be ~ 12 months from now (based on the current processing times).

First you need to decide if you are applying INLAND or OUTLAND. Read the top thread in this forum.

With INLAND she can file an OWP app with PR app, but it won't be approved until 11 months later. And then another 8 months after that to get PR.

With OUTLAND there is no OWP, but the entire PR approval would probably be done in around 8 months or so.

We are applying Inland. She is on a visitor's visa in Canada for six months and we would like to have the quickest route for the processing times. Is the only route the OWP app with the PR app?

OUTLAND is the quickest route, because an American application is processed entirely in Canada. As Rob_TO, mentioned, she could possibly complete the entire process in ~ 8 months.

Only American applications with inadmissibility, or doubts about the genuineness of the relationship issues are sent to LA of NY.

Apply Outland (which you can do, even though she is IN Canada).

She can simply extend her visitor status and remain in Canada throughout the entire process.

inland certainly is NOT the quickest route for US Applicants. Your wife can apply OUTLAND even while being IN canada as a visitor. This is very common. Outland applicants are not eligible for a work permit. Current US OUTLAND applicants are landing in 5-7 months, which means they are eligible to work as a permanent resident in 5-8 months. If you apply INLAND, your wife would not be eligible for a work permit unti AFTER stage 1 approval (AIP), which is currently 11 months.'

If you are really looking for the "quickest" way to get through the process, it would be applying OUTLAND, certainly NOT inland.
