Spouse Sponsorship - applied on June 2018

Hi there,

My husband and I have known each other for over a year and half, I just came back to Canada in March of this year and we got married then applied for the sponsorship under the family class.

We sent our application on June 18, and my husband (the sponsor) got an email from CIC on August 2 saying that they received the application on June 22 to sponsor a member of Family class on my behalf. But I still haven't received the AOR letter and my visitor visa will expire on September. Also, we can not check our application online.

So, I have some question.

- How long it takes for me to get an AOR letter?
- Should I apply for a tourist visa extension? Or since I already applied for an open work permit I don't need it?

Hi there,
The Aug 2nd email is the AOR, now u wait for the approval of OWP, if you applied, or for you medical request, which is about 6 months after they received you application.

Yes, I applied for the OWP. But once I can't check the online status of my application, how can I know if it was approved or not?

OWP is usually approved in about 4 months.

Yes current OWP approvals have come in for mid May applicants at the latest. So now its just the waiting game.. By what I see you should receive it by end of April. Did you submit PCC and schedule background A form along with your application?

Also some applications got delayed due to the incorrect payment. There is a $100 + $155 fee.

The email your husband received on Aug 2 from CIC, does it include Application # and UCI #? if it does then it's AOR1. Usually AOR1 takes 40-50 days.
