HI All,

Thanks in advance for your replies. I am a PR in Canada and I recently filed spouse sponsor application for my spouse outside Canada. I have one question regarding sponsor's background check.

Last year I was in my native country due to medical condition of my mother and stayed there for around 5 months. I did a contract job for 40 - 45 days over there in between. Now when I filed my application to sponsor spouse I mentioned my status during that period (outside Canada) as unemployed in one of the forms.

How can this affect my application? Apart from my criminal background check, do the immigration authorities make checks on employment etc. as well?

Thanks again for any replies on this.

if you were employed on contract inside or outside Canada......be honest with IRCC......update the form to state you worked on contract and send through IRCC webform.

Thank you Wakki,

Few questions related to this. I have not received AOR so I don't have any application number. How can I update my application in this case?

If I have to change my statement then I guess I have to update CRA tax file for last year, where I will add that I worked outside of country?

Any experience of someone with situation like this?

Thanks again for your time and views.

you may have to wait until you receive AOR before you update the form through IRCC Webform.

you may talk to your tax officer if your tax file may be updated.
