I'm an international student and my spouse came on spousal open work permit. Now we have separated. I have a few questions
1. We're divorced but not on paper. We weren't married here so how do I register my divorce here?
2. How do I notify ircc of my divorce?
3. Can my spouse stay if in Canada if I was their source of visa?

You can’t get divorced if you were ever married? When did your common law arrive on SOWP in Canada?

1. You need to live separately in Canada for one full year before you can file for divorce. How long have you been separated now?
2. You aren't divorced yet so there's nothing to notify IRCC about. Once you are applying for your PGWP, you can list your status as separated or divorced (if your divorced is legally finaized by then).
3. He can remain as long as the SOWP is valid. If he wants to stay in Canada beyond the expiry of the SOWP, he will need to find a way to qualify for this independently.

1. You don't, Canada doesn't register foreign divorces.
2. WebMail if you want, but they won't do anything.
3. Yes, until her status expires.
