Hello

I need help on getting correct answer for situation i am will be facing soon.

My spouse joined me here in Alberta as visitor visa. Her PR application is already under In process and assuming it will should be completed by Feb-2017.

I already got her emergency medical insurance from private company ( Blue Cross) the day she came here ( at that time she was not pregnant). But i think emergency medical insurance does not cover pregnancy related dr. visit and lab charges.

Visited Alberta Health care website and not sure whether she can get Health card under temporary resident of Alberta or not.

Here is official website

http://www.health.alberta.ca/AHCIP/temporary-residents.html

Anyone from Alberta have any idea that will registry will issue Health card or not ? Her Sponsorship approval letter is already have with us.

If she is not covered by AHS than any other resources in Alberta for less expensive ways ?? Please help me on it.

Pretty sure as long as she has a valid TRV she is eligible for AHIC under your plan. Easiest thing to do is take all your documentation down to a registries office and ask to apply. Takes about 10 mi Utes to fill out the forms. Take your documents as back up.

Thanks for taking time to reply. Does that mean her cost of family dr visit and all will be covered free while she hold valid AHIC ?

It should be. They do only issue temporary coverage for visitors, so call AHIC and ask. If she gets her PR before the visa expiry, shouldn't be any issue. If you get close to expiry of the visa, apply for an extension, and take the documents with you to extend the AHIC.
