Hi,
Question about the following situation:

The female person has 2nd marriage, she is a Canadian citizen and she wants to sponsor her husband now.
She has changed her Pakistani NICOP ID card from her Ex-husband name to her late father last name after her divorced and her marital status shows in NADR record as divorced too.
Her Canadian ID cards e.g. Health card/Drivers license has her father name as her last name as it was before 1st marriage.
Does she has to change her status from divorced to married in NADRA govt. record? if yes then does she has to change her last name on Canadian IDs too?

I would appreciate your response.

Thanks

Hello, my wife is also from Pakistan and was married before and divorced- When she got divorced she also updated her NADRA CNIC card back to her fathers name. When I married her in Nov 2021, we updated the records in Union Council and then took the Union council certificate as well as the Nikah nama to NADRA office and they then updated their records and issued her a new card 3-4 business days with my name on it. That is how we did it, so I would say to get the husbands name added and remove the fathers name as you do need to submit the NICOP/CNIC of the spouse and that will just reaffirm the validity of the marriage. Also, make sure you get the nikahnama translated to english and you get the marriage certificate from Union council for submission as that is required as well with one side of the certificate in English and the other in Urdu. I have been waiting since January 5th (submitted application) but here hoping the process is soon. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message and I will do my best to help.

Thanks.

Thanks for your reply.
I told her that to change her name to husband name in NADRA and status to married.
I noticed that on her marriage registration certificate which is issued from provincial govt. does not have the date of birth of both bride and groom, only age is mentioned. The certificate is in both English and Urdu. I told her to make sure that it has a date of birth and not just age.
Did you have anything like that on your marriage certificate? Do you think its going to be an issue if only age mentioned but no date of birth?

Thanks

Hi again, My marriage registration certificate was issued from Govt of Punjab and also just has the age for example : 19 days, 05 month, 31 years. That is exactly how it is written on the certificate for both us, so it will not be an issue as I submitted it exactly like that.

Yes, you have to submit that huge 2 page Urdu Nikahnama and it needs to have the required signatures and stamp as well from Union council and then you also have to send them a certified translated copy in English which I got from canada.

ok brother, thanks very much for your help.
Just curious, why did you have to translate that Urdu niakah Nama from Canada? if the wedding occurred in Pakistan then shouldn't your wife have to do that in Pakistan, translation from Urdu to English?

I brought the documents with me to Canada, so I just had it translated here and then submitted it. We were still waiting on the marriage certificate from Union council as their systems were down due to some sort of politics, so had to wait until December to get that one document and then filed it on December 31st. It doesn't matter if you get it translated there or in Canada. I just did that because we were waiting for that document and just wanted to mail (paper application) it from here as didn't want it to get lost in the mail from there.

Did you apply online? Because now the whole process is online.
