Hi
I and my wife got married early this month (January 2015), we are about to send a sponsorship application to immigration say by the end of February which is next month. But shes currently on a postgraduate work-permit which expires come mid-July 2015; my question is the following:

- if we do an inland application will she be allowed to stay.
- Will she be asked to leave Canada in July even with the application in process.
- Considering the fact that Postgraduate work-permit cannot be renewed am worried about what would make her stay
If there is anything we need to do when applying or anytime soon please i will appreciate your help and advice

Will you be applying inland or outland?
She could extend her stay as a visitor and remain in Canada while her application is being processed, but she would not be able to work.

If you apply inland, she has to stay. If she submits an OWP application, she would be under implied status and could stay. However, inland is currently taking forever (2+ years), so it may be in your best interests to apply outland, depending on where she's from. If she applies outland, there is no OWP available, but she could extend her stay as a visitor, as mentioned above.

Unless she does something seriously bad or tries to work and acts like she lives there, she won't be asked to leave. If she violates the conditions of what a visitor is, she will.

If she applies Inland she has to stay in Canada, however, I would not recommend it. As long as she is attending school and her student visa is valid, she should be fine and then she could extend her stay if needed. But outland gives her the option to go home if needed, though reentry is never guaranteed, her outland application would not be cancelled whereas her inland application would.
