we are very confused to apply for me from outside of canada or inside canada.

My husband is canadian citizen also my son is canadian citizen. We just apply for my daughter canada cititzenship certificate. So they all are canadian citizen beside me. I am currently in canada with my family with visitor visa. bythe way i am US citizen. On website it says if we apply with in canada it takes almost year and half. It's faster if you apply from outside. now we both are confuse. Apply from inside or outside? any one know's better wich one and how? HELP

Thanks You.

Definitely outland. No question. You can apply outland while you are in Canada.

I can take anywhere from 1 year to several years. Right now many seem to be finishing around the year and a half mark.

The outland processing time (on the other hand) represent how long it took them to get through 80% of the applications. This means many are processed sooner than the posted rate. My husband's took 4 months.

Did you apply from outside, which country. I have just send my finger print to FBI i know that will take two months. Is there anyway to expedite process.?

See the information on the left under my user name. Many of us have posted details there which tell you when we applied and through which office (you'll see my husband's was Buffalo which means it was an outland application).

There is no way to expedite the FBI bit. Unfortunately you just have to wait. Some people send their applications without the FBI certificate and mail it later. We didn't do this - so unfortunately I can offer any insights into how this went.

Can i stay with my family in canada and apply outside?
Do i have to leave canada before my visa comes?

1. Yes you can. Outland applies to where your app is processed, not your current location.
2. Not necessarily. If you are admitted with no defined time limit you can stay for 6 months. About a month before your limit (6 months or any other time limit) you should apply to extend your status as a visitor. The cost is $75 and you can do it online or through the mail. If called for an interview, you would have to leave Canada to attend it, but interviews for US spousal applicants are fairly rare.
