Hi all!

A few questions regarding sponsorship.

My husband is canadian and we live together in New Zealand (he is a duel citizen and our daughter was born here - I am a resident sponsored by him and British Citizen). We are planning to move to canada next year and the date has been brought forward. I have filled in my paperwork and am awaiting police checks from NZ and UK before I can send it off.

How long from sending it to approval do these things take? I know the offical word is 12 months but ideally we would be looking to move in around 10 months time.

Also I have just been diagnosed with Graves Disease and thyroid issues. Will I fail a potential medical?

Are there any other visas I can apply for to enter Canada before my residency is approved?

Also any tips for evidence of how my husband will support me?

Thanks!

You can't fail the medical through the spousal stream, it's not subject to excessive demand.

You're from a visa exempt country which means you can enter Canada for up to 6 months and subsequently extend your stay as a visitor.

Assume the 12 month target, it's often faster but no one can guarantee that.
