Hi

I am a British person being sponsored for a spousal visa by my Canadian wife. I am also going to be filling in the form for an open work permit - Application to Change Conditions, Extend my Stay or Remain in Canada as a Worker [IMM 5710].

I've gotten a bit stuck with it though - it seems to want me to have an accepted job offer. I am a freelance writer - so, self employed. This isn't the kind of job that HAS 'job offers'. And I can't see an option for 'freelance' or 'self employed' anywhere.

Am I filling in the wrong form? Surely I can't be the only person in this situation?:confused::confused::confused:

Self-employed or entrepreneur is an acceptable occupation.

My spouse made infant clothing to sell online, she posted Entrepreneur as her occupation during the application. We ticked the box and put that in the comments.

Hi - thanks for reply. I can't see an option for 'Entrepreneur' anywhere? I have written that I am freelance in the boxes for 'job offer' - will this be satisfactory?

TP

Put N/A for all job fields. That info is not required when applying for an OWP.

I’m self employer. You don’t need to be that specific in that form. If they ask you you just respond what you do
