Spousal sponsorship new intake announced for July 2 2026

Well, this is just horrific. They're opening the spousal sponsorship pathway after the processing pause, now with well over 40,000 applications in the queue, and have announced an intake quota of 14,000 in the next two-year period, and they're only opening it at first for people whose AoR from IRCC was received 2 years ago. It looks like people who have recently received AoR and are waiting to be able to apply to Quebec will be waiting for 6 years before the province will deign to look at their file. This is absolutely barbaric for Quebec's own citizens like me who are hoping to be reunited with their spouse abroad before we are old!!!
