I was sponsoring my spouse however we have recently been evaluating and talking about separating. He applied and received an open work permit as part of the process while he waits to hear about his PR. Wondering if anyone knows if his work permit will be cancelled if we cancel the application, or if he will have to leave the country immediately.

Don't be tempted to allow the application to continue if you are parting ways. That would be misrepresentation, and a bad idea.
