Hi everyone!

I am planning to get married with my partner who is a Canadian, however upon planning on immigration for me to move from the US to Canada, we've come to a bit of confusion regarding income requirements. From what we have researched, a minimum income is not necessary, but also asks for employment history of my partner (sponsor) who has not had consistent/long-term careers over the past few years, and is currently looking for full-time work at the moment.

Would we have the option to go with his family members as being co-signers, if possible? Would his employment history affect the chances of our application being approved?

Hope this isn't too complicated, haha!

Thank you for taking the time to read.

You can't have a co-signer for a spousal sponsorship application.

There is no minimum income requirement, but your sponsor needs to show how you will be supported during the process. I don't suspect his prior employment history will be of any help, sorry.

As long as is is not on, or goes on, social assistance and finds some type of employment, it may not be an issue.

But...you realize that you cannot `move' to Canada. You can [hopefully] come to Canada as a visitor and then submit a sponsorship application after you are married. Have a look at this, which explains how this often works:

Keep your ties`back home' because if questioned about this, you need to have sufficient evidence that you have not moved to Canada.

Good luck!
