Hello Everyone,

Hope all is well. I am at this current moment stressed out about my situation. Hopefully someone can shed some light into my current situation.
I am a born canadian citizen living abroad with my mom in Amman, Jordan. I do not live here permanently but when my mom comes i travel with her. I met my amazing wife in 2014 and we got married in August. I didnt want to apply right away for sponsorship because i wanted to see how the first few months went with my new bride. Now were in our 9th month of marriage and i know i met my soul mate. Recently i had some bad news and some good news. The bad news is that last week i was diagnosed with corneal hydrops in my left eye. I suffer from kurtoconeus. I was diagnosed 5 years ago. It has effected my vision and might require a corneal transplant. If i do need the procedure it will be done in Canada with my doctors. The good news is we found out as well a few days back that my wife is pregneat, 5 weeks! It is quite a doozy. I have completed all her sponsorship papers. (have not yet submitted them). Just looking for the right direction considering my situation. Can i get an express entry pr for my wife? Will she be covered by OHIP on the time for her delivery? Can she be with me if i need an operation for my eye? Ahhh so stressing. I appreciate any feedback that would help me or ease my mind. Thank you!

Moe M.

There is no expedite process for applying for PR available. Express Entry is an economic immigration stream - not a family sponsorship stream.

Your wife's processing office will be Amman. It's difficult to say how long the processing of her application will take. However it's quite possible processing won't be completed quickly enough for her to have the birth in Canada with OHIP coverage.

Has she already had the medical completed? Note that the medical requires an xray which is typically not recommended for women who are pregnant.

Your wife can certainly apply for a TRV (tourist visa) to come to Canada earlier. It's impossible to say if this TRV will be approved and the fact she is married to you will unfortunately not work in her favour.

Just to add... It looks like you've been living primarily outside of Canada for the last few years. If that's the case, then as part of the application you submit, you will have to provide evidence that you plan to return to Canada and live her permanently once your wife's PR visa has been approved.
