Hello Guys,

I recently completed my Landing formalities of PR and come back to my home country

I am going to get married in October

My question is

1. What is the quickest way in order to sponsor my would be spouse ?
2. Also , Do I need to show proof of funds while sponsoring spouse ?
3. Let's Say post my marriage , I will back to Canada after 6 8 months, Can I sponsor spouse right away after landing or after getting job I will be eligible to sponser her ?

Please advise on this , I would be very thankful to you

1 - With an outland sponsorship app.
2- No. But you have to explain how you're planning to support yourselves.
3 - Read 2. You can apply right after you land but keep in mind that you must be in Canada during the whole process of your app. Short yrips like 2 weeks are allowed.

Have you declared your spouse in your PR application?
If he/she cannot come to Canada, then as DanSlh told you, the outland sponsorship is your only option. And since you are a PR, but not a citizen, you have to stay in Canada. And your spouse won't be able to apply for a work permit, and won't be able to enter Canada after you sent your application. The processing time depends on your country of origin.

The OP was not married when s/he landed. ;)

1. Only if you apply inland. In order to apply inland, first your spouse has to come to Canada as a tourist.
2. There is no written rule for the 2 weeks. The guide says "Permanent residents residing abroad may not sponsor from outside of Canada". The more time you spend abroad, the greater is the risk that CIC will assume that you are actually "residing" abroad and decline your application. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3900ETOC.asp
3. You can apply for a visitor visa any time, before, or after applying for PR, but it's never guaranteed that she will be approved.

I'm not so familiar with the economic applications, but I assumed they would have had to declare common-law. But they didn't have to live together to be together...
