An SOWP is not guaranteed for international students. Students who get married during their studies or right after their study permit approval often struggle to get approved for an SOWP for quite some time because this is how people commit immigration fraud. You usually have to wait until you have more relationship proof.

I am an international student currently staying in Canada. I came here in September intake and then during winter break went to India to get married after that in February 2020, I applied for my husband open work permit so we can stay together. But due to COVID19, there is no update in his application. It is almost more than two months; it is still showing background check processing.
Please guide us; we are in a difficult situation and worried.

Did anyone receive any updates for application in march 2020?

Expect delays due to covid. It usually take multiple months to get approval/refusal without covid. There is a high likelihood of refusal when students get married during their studies and don’t have a lot of proof of their relationship before marriage.
