Hlo, i am confused wheather to get married or not after submitting the documents for permanent residence, because I talked to one of the lawyer he said we can apply her open work permit while waiting for you decision. But i never heard about such a thing .

So i am confused wheather there is such kind of rule that you can apply for open work permit for your spouse while waiting for permanent residency.
Can anyone please help me in this . Really appreciate your any kind of help
Thankyou

Is one of you a Canadian permanent resident or citizen who is sponsoring the other person for PR as their spouse?

I just applied for permanent residency and she is in India right now I was thinking to get married. Someone suggested me this OWP concept. Which is hardly to believe on.

Unless you or your spouse are already a PR of Canada, this OWP option doesn't apply. As replied above, this is an option to sponsor your spouse to become PR if you are already a PR and both of you are in Canada. (or vice versa)

If you are talking about applying for PR and including your spouse as dependent, there is NO OWP available.

If you are talking about being a foreign worker and apply SOWP for you spouse, yes. There are options under specific condition. Check the foreign worker section of the forumn.

Wrong section of the forum. Post to the Foreign Workers or EE section of the forum.
