Hello all. Im the Spouse on a a Family Class Sponsorship , application on process. They are processing August 2019, and we applied Dec 2019. This is the step to indicate Eligibility for myself to apply for PR. Wife and Children are Canadian citizens
Medical Completed, Security Completed, Biometrics completed
We are in Canada now , Quebec . We arrived 5 January 2020. I had an OWP that expired 8 June 2021, granted even though we live in Quebec
My wife is working , and Ive been looking for work but also having to be house husband for children off school due to school closures
MY application for extension was denied . Any idea why ?
Letter states I need an employment impact statement (but I asked for OWP , stating its for Spousal OWP), and I didn't put any employer details). IS this a Quebec thing
The only other thought is that I applied for OWP instead of Traveler Record extension, and maybe I need that extended for 6 months or more before an OWP application
Any guidance greatfully received !

Did you submit an inland or outland application?

It sounds like you submitted an inland application if you applied December 2019 but didn't arrive until January 2020.

Outland applications do not qualify for an OWP.

This last time it was inalnd , and we were clear about address etc. I provided an explanatory letter. Hmmmm

Did you apply "inland"? It doesn't matter where you were physically now when you send the OWP applicaiton. It's set to "outland" or "inland" when you submitted the PR sponsorship application.

If you applied outland, then the OWP was correctly refused.

What do you mean when you say "this last time it was inland"?

Did you file two spousal sponsorship applications? Was the first one refused?

Based on your original post, you applied for spousal sponsorship while outside of Canada in December 2019. So this would have been an outland spousal sponsorship application. Did you either withdraw this application or was it refused and you later filed another spousal sponsorship application inland?

Thankyou for your help so far. I managed to clarify some things with a call centre representative so I believe the situation is :
As the original FC application was outland, the SOWP is denied.
The OWP I had (6 month expiring 8 June 2021) was just a general OWP ?! It wasn't granted as an Spousal OWP
AS Im resident in Quebec an impact assessment is needed for any future offer of employment, but might be sidestepped as I have a CSQ
I instead have to apply for extension to TV record, thus changing status from worker to visitor

I hope I have all that correct

That makes a lot more sense.

You do not qualify for an OWP through your spouse since you applied for spousal sponsorship outland. This is only available to those who applied inland. So if that's what you attempted to apply for, you were correctly refused.

Yes, the right move would be to apply to change your status to visitor (make sure the application reaches IRCC on or before June 8). This will allow you to remain in Canada legally however you'll need to stop working once your OWP expires.
