Hello,
There's some great info on this forum but I'm still a little bit confused about how I should proceed to apply for Spousal Sponsorship in my specific situation.
- I am a Canadian citizen living in the US on a temporary work permit (H-1B) which expires in 2017.
- I recently married a UK citizen who is also on a temporary work permit living in the US (his current US visa expires next year but will likely get renewed)
- We would like to move to Canada in the next 2-3 years rather than settle in the US.
Looking at some of the threads, I think I need to get the ball rolling soon! Does anyone know whether my husband's case would be processed in the US or the UK? As he is on a temporary work permit in the US and there is no guarantee his next visa will be renewed, I am wondering if it is best if his spousal visa application is processed in the UK. I understand that he may be required to fly back to the UK for an interview.
Does CIC make the decision on where his application will be transferred to based on his current residency, or do we get to choose? Technically, he is only on a temporary work permit in the US so has to keep a permanent address in the UK at all times.
Thank you for any advice!
