Hello,

I want to sponsor my husband to Canada. He is from Pakistan and is a permanent resident of Spain. I want to know which documents I need to submit to send in my application.

I heard that you need to submit, both the sponsorship documents as well as the immigration documents from his end at the same time.

Although I have some of these documents (e.g. police clearances) am missing other records e.g. medical information.

Which documents are essential for me to start the process. Their website says we need the entire package, so just wondering if anyone who has gone through this, could guide me.

Question 2: What are the fees that I need to pay. I know there is the $75 fee as well as principal applicant fee of $475. What do they mean by that?

Thank you for any help

You have a lot of reading to do.

For starters please go to this link:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp

There will be a checklist that will tell you what you need and also a list of documents that you and your husband need to fill out. Please review the above and come back with more questions. Also, please pay attention for the country specific guide.

Total fee will be $1040 which will be paid online.

Thank you elmatador, but I have gone through the website. I was just wondering whether some of those items could be sent to them later. As for example the medical certificate only stays valid for 3 months, so should i wait until after I have been approved as a sponsor from Canada. Thanks

Since he is living in Spain, are you not applying through the Paris office? Processing time there is 9 months. Since it is 9 months I would complete the medical upfront and send it in with the application. Also, please see the country specific instructions for western Europe which will cover Spain.

Also, the medical certificate is valid for 12months. The police clearance must be no older than 3 months at the time of submission.

Your husband will need a police clearance from any country he has lived in for 6 months or longer.

Thank you elmatador, I really appreciate your help :)

Please also review my next question if possible
