Hi,
My spouse (Canadian Citizen) recently applied to sponsor me (I am in Canada on study permit). We submitted the application on May 29, 2017 from Toronto. We also submitted an open work permit for me. I have a couple of questions regarding linking the paper application to CIC.

1. How long should we wait before trying to link?
2. Who should try to link? Me- the principal applicant or my spouse- the sponsor?
3. This is what we are doing and unable to connect it-
Category- Permanent Residence
Sub category- Family Class (Spouses)
Application detail- Who's detail should we put- mine or my spouse's
Applicant's personal information- I am guessing it will be mine (which detail is better place of birth or passport?)
Other application information- will this be my detail as well?
Lastly, will number of applicants be 2 (me and my spouse?)

Thanks
Tanaya

1. You will have to wait until you receive some sort of correspondence from CIC. Such as your application file/UCI number in order to link. Comes within a few weeks to maybe 2 months.

2. The principal applicant links. However you will both receive information where you can login on the cic website and view some details on the file.

3. 2 unless you have dependents which must be mentioned.
