I want to sponsor my parents and two of their dependents. My income on line 150 = $70,000.Low income cut off for 9 people is about $70,623 meaning i don't have enough income for 9 people. I want my husband to be as a co-signer. The problem is that, my husband was on EI ( employment insurance) from April 2009 till Jan 2010, since then, he hasn't had a job and no source of income. His income for 2009 including EI and other income form wages was about $36000, this gives us a total income of about $100,000 in 2009. On the financial evaluation form, they are asking of income for previous 12 months preceding the application. Like i said earlier, he doesn't have any income since Jan 2010. what should i do? If incase i check unemployment box on the financial evaluation form for my spouse, but we have $100,000 income for 2009. Is the cic not going to ask us of another option c print out because of his unemployment status which i checked? He (my spouce) is planning on starting a small business, should i check the self employed box instead of checking the unemployment box in other to prevent the cic to ask for another option c print out before approval? Another problem is that if i check the self employed box, they are asking for his income, of which he hasn't started making any income. Please, what should i do? I need your advice.

Think it out, if you signed the sponsorship today, income for the previous 12 months goes back to May/2009. It is your spouses income from that period that you include with him as a co-signer. He is unemployed, he doesn't have a small business, so you check unemployed. You start lying on the forms, you end up getting yourself in a pickle that usually ends up in refusals.
