Aww,good to know there is more couples like us out there :) . We still get an odd look here and there about the way we met but not nearly as much we did in the beginning :) .

Oh,yes the police check. I haven't even considered how long that takes, especially with my government, lol.
I will start tomorrow and pray that I can get my police clearance online...I won't be a happy camper if I will have to take a special 2,3 day trip to Toronto just for this.
Im sure you can relate with the whole "money is tight" thing. 1500 for application gives me a rash...additional expenses are really not welcome lol.

Thank you for kind words :) makes me feel much, much better!

Inland or outland is your decision, as both have pros and cons - and you're the only one that can decide for that. read the first thread ( spousal sponsorship by Leon, only the first page), for an overview of the process. Inland is most likely longer time, but you will get a work permit after abut 8 months, and PR somewhere between 14 to 16 months most likely. Outland is faster, but you can not work until you are fully done. Inland you can not leave the country, Outland you can come and go. (re-entry is never guaranteed of course, but it won't affect your application).

I would advise to send your application at least 10 days before your visa expires, if you are going for Inland. You don't want to miss the deadline and not have implied status.

For the medicals> you don't need the results, you only need the proof that you have done the exam. When you book an appointment ( with a panel physician on CIC list), at the end you will be given a slip with your ID and a number - you include that in the application and the medical results will be matched up with your application later on during the process. So there is no waiting time.

Sweden, thank you so much. I will figure it all out tomorrow, and will keep you posted. Lets hope I can pull this off in the next 45 days.

The police certificate will need to come from Croatia. Hopefully they can just mail it to you, or you can get a family member to pick it up on your behalf and mail it to you.

If by going to Toronto you mean going to the Croatia embassy, i'm not sure if they can help in these cases to get certificates like this, although you can always call them to ask.

Your expenses would most likely be something like:
PR app - $1040
Medical exam - $150
Photos - $25
Certified translation of police cert to english - $100

I hear you :) Its like putting together a Novel :D The check list helped us a lot....to keep track of everything. We didn't know about this forum when we prepared our application....wish we did though. So you have the possibility to ask for help here, step by step.

Ask family and friends to write letters for you too :)

Yeeeees a LOT of printing....I remember :D

Good thing they have the check list, cause I don't know where to start....I'm hoping I'll know by monday will I be able to get police check from the embassy or am I gonna have to ask mamma to go and get it for me. How long did it take you to gather everything up?? Did you do inland or outland??
