Sponsorship and being on welfare/disability

Sorry to inconvenience anyone again, but if my partner is on disability (bearing in mind that I am also on disability in Canada for my own needs,) can I still sponsor her? She's starting to lose hope in regards to being with me and I'm really worried about her.

The applicant having a disability should not be a factor in sponsoring her, since she would be exempt from excessive demand for medical issues.

For you the sponsor, welfare and disability are 2 VERY different things. If you are on welfare, you are barred from sponsoring until you completely get off of it. However you are allowed to sponsor if on certain disability payment programs. The only concern here would be to prove you will be financially capable to support your partner once she received PR.

Technically being on disability should not prevent you from sponsoring. However the fact you are both on disability could create problems for your application. We have seen a handful of refusals on this forum where the sponsor was on disability and CIC was concerned about the couple's ability to support themselves independently. Is there any support / assistance you are or will be receiving from family members (e.g. living in someone's home rent free)? Is there any chance your partner plans to take on work once in Canada? If so, this would be good evidence to provide along with your application. Even if you have no such evidence - you should still apply and expect there's a good chance you'll be approved.
