Hello all:

I applied to sponsor my parents in 2009 and I have received a letter now asking additional info from my parents and from me they ask a tax form for the year I applied, which is no problem.

Unfortunately, I got laid off last year and my income in 2011 was not enough for sponsorship. I wonder if I will be asked to update my income info again. If so, what will happen and is it possible to postpone the case until I get a job?

I appreciate it if you can tell me your experiences and any info regarding this.

Thanks.

So far they didn't ask you for the year you got laid off.So don't worry and send the T4 they asked for.Don't try to delay the case lot of changes are coming. My opinion is instead of delaying send T4 .I don't think so you will have any problem.

Thanks Luck786.

I read somewhere that they get your income from the year you applied for sponsorship and from the most recent year and they go with the highest one. Is that true? Cause that might give me a chance.

Thanks,

It's possible they will ask for an income update again. If they do - there's nothing you can do to postpone this request. If they do request your 2011 income and you don't meet LICO, the application will be refused. They will not take the 2009 amount because it is higher. CIC wants you to prove that you can support your parents going forward - so it wouldn't make sense for CIC to accept the 2009 information if the newer 2011 information is available.

You'll just have to hope they don't request your income for 2011. There's certainly a chance they might not.

Hello I am just wondering how your application went and if you supplied for your most recent income documents ?
